Good things sometimes come in small packages, and at 5’2”, Patti LuPone is all kinds of good—or great to be exact. A legend in the making, her acting skills are only bested by her vocals, both of which she liberally shares. Television series, movies and mini-series; Broadway shows; one-woman showcases; big-screen films and more, Patti has done it all, and done it with the awesomeness with which she was born. Her role as Kitty Duval in the TV movie The Time of Your Life in 1976 kicked it all off, and the delicious diva has been making credits ever since. Highlights include two Emmy nominations: one for her role as Lady Bird in the TV movie LBJ: The Early Years in 1987, and one for her iconic and popular part as Libby Thatcher on TV series Life Goes On, from 1989-1993. On stage, she won accolades and a Tony award for her portrayal of Eva Peron in Evita in 1979, and she originated the role of Fantine in the London production of Les Misérables in 1985. The Long Island native has a long list of television series roles, both major and minor, in hit series and TV movies, and a slew of film titles. TV titles include Oz in 2003, Will & Grace in 2005, 30 Rock in 2009-2012, American Horror Story in 2013-2014, Girls in 2014, Penny Dreadful in 2015-2016, The Simpsons, Anthem: Homunculus, and Pose in 2019, and the Hollywood mini-series in 2020. Big movies include roles in Witness (1985), Wise Guys(1986), Driving Miss Daisy (1989), David Mamet’s State and Main (2000), Heist (2001), City by the Sea(2002), Company (2011), The Comedian (2016), and Last Christmas (2019). And Mr. Skin would be remiss if we didn’t mention Patti’s appearance as Helen in the movie Summer of Sam (1999), where her top is peeled down and her full bosom is revealed—and it’s pretty damn fine for a 50-year-old dame.
